A design which combines two cultures; that of the Mughal patterns of the 17th century and the early shawl patterns which were woven in Norwich in the late 18th century. Its floral trellis is surrounded by a boteh of a passionflower centre. The passionflower was first introduced into Europe in 1620 in the Farmese gardens in Rome, its discovery was made in South America by Jesuit Priests who were beguiled by its beauty.
